直近一週間の全世界での新規感染者数は、一日あたりの平均で約 79 万人となり、一週間前の 約 73万人と比較しても、2月初旬から続いている拡大傾向が一気に加速している結果となっています。ただし、一日あたり 約6万人増加している原因の殆どはインドでの感染者の増加で、インドでは直近の一週間の新規感染者数が一週間前より一日あたり 約 10万人増えているため、インド以外の国では 一日あたり 約4万人減少している事になり、その点は評価すべき事です。
一方、感染力の高さで各国の新規感染者数を増やし、強力な行動規制が施行され、ワクチン接種の導入にも関わらず社会不安から動乱が発生していた欧州各国では、イタリアを始めとして徐々に感染者数を抑制する効果が表われ始めており、ブラジルにおいても2週間前より減少の傾向を見せています。
感染が拡大して減少していくメカニズムはよく解りませんが、2月から始まった感染の “波” が徐々に収まりつつある現象であるなら嬉しい事です。ただ、ワクチン接種率は未だ高くなく、有効な治療薬が無い現状のままでは、次の有力な “変異株” が現れて新たな “波” を起こす事は確実ですから、世界各国は研究開発用データテーブルを共有して、惜しみなく情報を出し合い、手分けして研究や臨床実験を行なうなど、国連や各国政府が主導して行なう事を強く求めます。
また、現行のワクチン開発会社や研究機関が開発した製造についても、日本を含めてより多くの国で製造協力を行なうべきでしょう。

The number of new infections worldwide has been increasing steadily for the past week to about 790,000 per day, compared to about 730,000 a week earlier.
However, the reason for this increase is due to the fact that the number of new infections is increasing rapidly in India.
The number of new infections in India in the last week has increased by about 100,000 per day compared to the week before, which means that the number of new infections in the rest of the world has decreased by about 40,000 per day.
In fact, in Italy and other European countries, the upward trend in the number of new infections has stopped and is gradually declining. A similar trend has been observed in Brazil.
However, the global vaccination rate is still not high, and without the development of an effective therapeutic agents, the next strong "variant" strain is sure to cause an even bigger wave of spread.
For this reason, it is important for countries around the world to share research data and work together to develop countermeasures against this virus disaster.
