メディアが報道する通り、人口13億人を超えるインドでは新規感染者が多く発生して、決して静観して良い状況ではありませんが、インドでの感染状況を通じて全世界の感染を語るのは間違いです。
直近の一週間、インドを除く全世界での新規感染者数は、二週間前の一日あたり 約 37万人/日から 約 34万人/日 へと減少しており、世界全体を俯瞰すれば、感染抑制は順調に進んでいると言えます。また、インドでの新規感染者数は、二週間前の一日あたり 約 37.5万人/日から、直近の一週間は 約25.6万人/日へと減少して、更なる今後の抑制が期待されます。
ただ、地域や国によっては感染が深刻なレベルにまで拡大している所もあります。 それは、南米のウルグアイやアルゼンチン、ブラジルに、インド洋の モルディブやネパールなどです。それらの国々の人口は多くありませんが、人口あたりの感染者数を見れば、その国の人々は感染リスクが高い上に医療機関が既に負っている負担レベルも高い事が充分に推察されます。
インドの様に人口の大きな国や有名な国だけに注目するのではなく、人口あたりの新規感染者数を 国別・日別でまとめた、別表【感染密度】一覧表で、注意や支援が必要な国を正しく把握する事が大切です。
